Tour de Berkshire raises more than £10,000
The Tour de Berkshire, currently in its fifth year, took riders along the 20-mile circuit to and from The Cottage Inn in Upper Bucklebury and participants were forced to brave the wet weather to raise money for the charity.
Alex Dearman, speaking on behalf of the charity, said: “The Tour de Berkshire was a huge success and despite the awful weather conditions we had 250 riders including over 50 children. This is 100 riders more than last year.
“So far the event has raised £12,500 with more donations and sponsorships still coming in.”
Organisers Nikki and Ross Green’s six-year old daughter Tilly suffers from the condition and is the inspiration behind the event. She managed an impressive ten miles in the pouring rain for the charity ride.
Next year’s event is already in the diary, according to Alex, and is expected to hit West Berkshire’s streets again on August 1.
