Tourist information centre re-opens in Newbury
The centre was reopened for business at the town hall in the Market Place yesterday morning (Wed), at a ceremony attended by the Chairman of West Berkshire Council, Adrian Edwards, and Mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson.
The centre’s relocation was due to the redevelopment of the West Berkshire Museum and continued.
Hilary Cole, West Berkshire's Executive Councillor for Culture and Leisure (Con Cheiveley) , said: “They moved to their current location the Wharf in 2005 and have enjoyed many successful years there. With the co-operation of Newbury Town Council, the TIC now look forward to moving to a bigger space in a lovely central location and to welcoming and continuing to help even more visitors and local people."
The centre’s last day of business at their former location on the canal wharf was Friday February 15.
