Town centre bar closes after just 18 months

Time called on Bar Sport in Bartholomew Street after it enters administration

BAR Sport in Newbury has closed down – just 18 months after its grand opening.

This week, a spokesperson for the venue confirmed the closure of the Newbury restaurant and bar.

Franchisee C-Tag Leisure Limited, which formerly traded as Bar Sport Newbury, entered administration
in October 2014 but since then it has traded under licence of the
administrators, Worcestershire-based MB Insolvency.

Bar Sport Newbury’s former
managing director Claudio Altini, who is listed as company director of C-Tag Leisure Limited alongside his wife Tracey, stood down from the role in October last year due to ill health.

In October 2014, Bar Sport Newbury had 19 members of staff on its books.
