Town centre drama as boy injured




Witness: "I heard a thump and saw the boy lying in the road"

A TEENAGER was struck and injured by a bus in Newbury's busy Northbrook Street at lunchtime today (Thursday).

The incident happened around 1pm as a number 1204 Jet Black Newbury to Reading connection bus was passing Camp Hopson's store.

Shopper Natalie Brooks, from Thatcham, said: “I heard a thump and saw the boy lying in the road. He managed to get up again but then the ambulance arrived and he was taken inside it for treatment.”

Spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service, Ngozi Fakeye said: "We received a call at 1.03pm. A male aged 15 was treated for injuries at the site and released."
