Town council appeals for civic award nominees
Newbury Town Council looks to celebrate the town's unsung heroes in the annual award scheme
NEWBURY Town Council is appealing for nominees for its award which celebrates the town's unsung heroes.
The civic award scheme has been in existence since 1996 and is designed to mark the exceptional voluntary contribution individuals make to their communities.
Newbury Town Council's civic manager and coordinator of the scheme, Joyce Lewis, said: “Now is the time for people to begin to nominate others in the community who are doing exceptional voluntary service.
“The idea behind the civic awards is to raise the profile of the people who work in a voluntary capacity in our community and to give something back to them.”
Nomination forms are available from the town hall.
