Hungerford Town Council announces Town Meeting details

HUNGERFORD Town Council will host its annual town meeting again this year, following a two-year coronavirus hiatus.

The event will take place this year in The Croft Hall on Wednesday, March 30.

Refreshments will be served from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Various local groups and organisations will be represented, as well as the town council and its various committees.

The informal event is usually held in the town hall but the Town & Manor of Hungerford, which owns the building, has refused permission this year.

Town mayor Helen Simpson said: "I'm absolutely gutted, especially as we'd booked it a year ago and paid a deposit.

"But the Town & Manor say the floor needs re-polishing ahead of Hocktide."
