Traffic accident in Hungerford High Street

A TRAFFIC accident is causing tailbacks around Hungerford.

Initial reports state a car has caused damaged to a High Street shop and other buildings.

The accident is said to have happened around 2pm.

One witness said, at 6.30pm: "A car has gone into Snippits Barbers and it looks like people are checking for structural damage.

"It's traffic hell."

Another said: "It looks like two vehicles were involved.

"A gas main has been damaged and a couple of houses have damage to the brickwork and windows."

There are no reports of serious injuries.

Police no longer routinely provide information about non fatal traffic accidents but congestion is still being reported.
