Traffic alert: Severe delays on the A34 between the M4 at Chieveley and East Ilsley after morning rush hour crash

UPDATE at 11am: All lanes have now reopened and the accident has been cleared. Delays of around 10 minutes remain as traffic returns to normal.

UPDATE at 10.34am: One lane of the A34, northbound, remains closed after the earlier incident involving four cars and a van.

The crash happened between the Beedon turn off and the Chilton Interchange, with traffic queuing back to the M4 junction at Chieveley.

The road is not expected to return to normal conditions until at least 12.45pm now.

There are currently long delays on the A34, after a crash just north of Newbury.

The tailbacks are stretching for several miles on the northbound carriageway between the junction with the M4 at Chieveley and East Ilsley.

The outside lane is currently blocked, with traffic moving past the incident at around 5mph.

Delays of around 50 minutes are being experienced.

Highways England said it expects the road to be cleared by 10.30am but normal conditions are not expected to resume until around 11.30am.
