'Traffic chaos' gridlocks Newbury

Heavy traffic has gridlocked central Newbury this morning (Friday) due to a town centre road closure.

Market Street remains closed following planned roadworks.

The closure has caused traffic build up on Bartholomew Street, the Andover Road and the A339.

One motorist reported that they had been travelling on Bartholomew Street for up to 25 minutes and described it as “traffic chaos”.

According to Google Maps, the heavy traffic is causing delays of up to 10 minutes in the town centre.
