M4 incident near Hungerford causing traffic chaos across the area including on Bath Road and the A338




An incident on the M4 near Hungerford is causing traffic chaos across the area.

Although all lanes of the motorway have now reopened, according to the AA, several roads in and around Hungerford are gridlocked as traffic diverted through the town.

The incident was on the westbound carriageway at junction 14 for the A338 at Hungerford.

There is still heavy traffic queuing from junction 13 at Chieveley, which is beginning to back up along the westbound carriageway from junction 12 at Theale.

And from junction 14 along the A338 through Hungerford Newtown and Upper Eddington, to the A4 Bath Road, it is queuing.

Along Hungerford Hill and the A338 through Shefford Woodlands, to junction 14 of the M4, is also experiencing heavy traffic.

There are also long delays on the road through Radley down Bath Road.

Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
