Train services delayed after reports of fighting on platform and people on tracks




British Transport Police called to incident at Reading West

BRITISH Transport Police have been called to reports of a fight on the platform and people on the tracks at Reading West station.

First Great Western services through the station are currently being delayed by up to 40 minutes, which is affecting commuters travelling from Reading to Newbury and Reading to Basingstoke.

The rail operator tweeted at 6.39pm: "Services are now on the move via Reading West. There are delays of up to 40 mins between Reading and Newbury/Basingstoke."

It had previously tweeted: "Services are being delayed via Reading West (Reading-Newbury/Basingstoke) due to reports of people on the track."

One commuter, Clive Illenden, tweeted: "Originally was youths mucking about at Reading West. Then escalated to young adults now on the track. Police have been sent @fgw

First Great Western confirmed that it had received reports of fighting on the platform and of people on the track.
