Train services delayed between Reading and Newbury




Train services are delayed between Reading and Newbury this morning (Thursday).

This is due to a points failure between Reading and Newbury.

All lines are currently blocked.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said train services running to and from these stations may be delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until 9am.

Network Rail has attended and attempted rectification works.

But they have not been successful.

The 5.33am Bedwyn to London Paddington service will be forwarded to Reading where it will terminate.

The other services currently stuck between Reading and Newbury will then be looked at being moved to the next suitable location.

Alternative travel arrangements have been outlined.

The Reading buses jetBlack 1: Newbury (Wharf), Thatcham (Cropper Close), Midgham, Aldermaston, Theale (The Crown), Reading (Station) are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.

GWR said: “If you require any further assistance or information please speak to a member of train crew or station staff. Alternatively please use station help points where provided.

“We apologise for the disruption to your journey with us today.”
