Train strikes affect travel on GWR and other railway networks
An extremely limited train service is operating today due to ongoing strikes.
A significantly reduced, revised timetable is operating across several train operators today, including Great Western Railway, as Aslef union strike action continues.
And most parts of the GWR network will have no service at all.
The operator is warning that trains will be far busier than previous strike days and is urging passengers to check trains are running before travelling, or to travel on alternative days where possible.
Services are also starting later (7am) and all journeys must be completed by approximately 6.30pm.
But the service provider wishes to remind customers they can travel on days around the strike action.
For instance, tickets for today (Wednesday) can be used up to and including Friday, October 6.
Further travel disruptions are anticipated up to and including Friday due to continued industrial action, causing some short-notice alterations or cancellations.
Bus replacement services are not guaranteed in all cases.
Please visit https://www.gwr.com/strike to keep updated on which services are running.
Customers who have bought tickets but cannot travel can claim a full refund or amend their ticket.
Travellers may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
You can claim a refund of your unused full fare, even if only one leg of your journey is affected.
Season-ticket holders can apply for compensation through the Delay Repay scheme.
