Train services between Reading and Westbury cancelled after loss of life incident in Hungerford
Update: Following Police carrying out investigations earlier today, the railway lines between Newbury and Westbury have now re-opened.
But there are still a lot of delays on the network due to the incident and service recovery is expected to take at least one hour.
Where possible GWR is calling some trains additionally at stations who have not had a service for a while.
Trains are being cancelled between Reading and Westbury today (Wednesday).
Great Western Railway (GWR) said “all lines are on stop” following reports of an incident involving a loss of life in the Hungerford area.
Emergency services are dealing with the incident.
Train services running to and from these stations are cancelled, delayed or diverted between Reading and Westbury.
Any customers for Newbury, Hungerford and Bedwyn are advised to change at Reading.
Bedwyn and Hungerford customers may only be able to get as far as Newbury.
GWR said: “Please speak with Newbury station staff for alternatives from there.”
Disruption is expected until 2pm today but GWR will provide updates and advise accordingly.
