Travellers descended upon Thatcham

The group of about four caravans and various cars set up on the Pipers Way Green yesterday evening and the following day were asked to leave by the landowner, West Berkshire Council.
Speaking this morning (Wednesday) West Berkshire Council spokeswoman, Peta Stoddart-Crompton, said: "The council has spoken to the travellers and they have said they will be moving on tonight.
"If this does not happen, the council will take action."
The Sunday before last, about 16 caravans and associated towing vehicles arrived at Stroud Green and refused to move on following a request by the landowner, West Berkshire Council.
The district council gave them notice to leave by 2pm on the following Tuesday, however, they left of their own accord on 10am on that day.
