Trial period for community radio
Programme director and Newbury resident, Paul Newman, who has more than 30 years’ radio experience, said: “I’ll be making sure Kennet Radio is professional and entertaining while staying true to our commitment to be ‘local radio for local people by local people’.
“Our planning is well underway, but we do still have some vacant slots for more local people to get involved as radio presenters.”
The chairman of Kennet Radio, Julian Swift-Hook, said: “A year ago a group of like-minded radio enthusiasts got together in Newbury’s Town Hall to discuss the possibility of bringing community radio to Newbury and Thatcham and I’m really pleased that our ambitions are coming to fruition.”
The pastor of Thatcham Community Church, Hedley Clemo, and his wife Bola, who have been involved with Kennet Radio’s steering group from the start said: “I am really looking forward to providing Pause for Thought items which will be heard every day, as well as longer Christian shows on Sundays.
