A NEWBURY man who denied a charge of assault has been convicted of the offence.
Mark Daniel Offer had pleaded not guilty at assaulting Hugh Donald by beating him in Newbury on November 27 last year.
But Reading magistrates convicted him following a trial on Friday, October 15.
The 60-year-old, of Butson Close, Newbury – who also uses the name Stephen Davis according to court documents – was told the case could proceed no further that day.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared on an 'all options' basis.
Mr Offer was meanwhile released on conditional bail.
