Tributes paid to "fantastic and knowledgeable” father

Reginald Goree, aged 75 of Newbury, fell into Bellridge Lake – a private fishing lake owned by the Newbury Angling Association - on Tuesday afternoon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Goree had three sons, two daughters and 10 grandchildren.
One of his sons, Anthony Goree, aged 45 and of Newbury, paid tribute to the man who he described as a fantastic father and grandfather.
“He lived to fish, that was what he lived to do,” said Mr Goree, who extended special thanks to his father’s close friend and fishing partner, Derek Golding.
“He (Derek) used to take him every week.
“If it wasn’t for him my dad wouldn’t have had much of a life.
“I really appreciate everything he has done, he was a really good friend to my dad.”
He added that he would be missed by all of his grandchildren.
“He taught all the grandchildren to play snooker and pool, they loved him for that.
“The kids have written notes to him to say thanks granddad for teaching me how to play.”
West Berkshire coroner's officer Paul Beecroft confirmed that the cause of death was drowning, but added: “We are investigating the fact that he has had some form of medical episode which may have caused him to fall into the water.”
Mr Goree added thanks to the person who helped to retrieve his father from the water, and asked him to get in touch with the family.
He also praised the work of the air ambulance crew on the day, which had previously helped his father on another occasion.
A fundraising event is being organised by the Newbury Angling Association in memory of Mr Goree to raise money for the air ambulance, however details of this are yet to be confirmed.
