Tributes paid to Thatcham teenager following fatal collision

The 17-year-boy, named locally as Tom Slater, had been riding a blue Yamaha motorcycle on the A339 between the Robin Hood and Vodafone roundabouts when it was in collision with a blue Renault Clio at around 10.40pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Floral tributes, cycle helmets and messages have been laid near the scene of the incident on the A339, close to Newbury fire station.
One message reads: “You were like a brother to me, a part of my family, going to be missed and never forgotten, always in my heart.”
Another says: “You will be truly missed.”
Tributes have also been paid on social networking sites including Facebook.
Pc Tim Offer, of Thames Valley Police, investigating the incident, said: “This is a fairly busy road and I am sure that there were other motorists in the area at the time who might have seen the collision happen, or the vehicles being driven beforehand.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who has information to come forward and contact the police.”
If anyone witnessed the collision, or has information about this incident, call investigating officer Pc Offer on the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org
No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
