Tributes paid to Upper Bucklebury teenager

Facebook tributes are made to 18-year-old who died at Headley Stud recently

TRIBUTES have been paid on the social networking website Facebook to an Upper Bucklebury teenager who died last month in an incident at Headley Stud, which is currently under investigation by the police and Health and Safety Executive.

Tree surgeon, 18-year-old Jonathan Kent - also the drummer in a West Berkshire-based band, The Difference - died in an incident at Headley Stud, in Newbury Road, north Hampshire on January 13, the north east coroner's office confirmed.

His funeral was held at All Saints church, Upper Bucklebury, on Tuesday, January 31, and online tributes have been posted on his band's website.

Mr Kent has been described on the site by his band members as not only “a fantastic person” but also a “gifted, talented musician,” adding: “Jonny you will be sorely missed but will always be with us in our hearts and certainly never will be forgotten.”

Another recalled the band playing a rendition of the Guns ‘N' Roses song Sweet Child O' Mine at royal wedding celebrations in Bucklebury Farm Park in April.

Charlotte Kendall posted: “Jonny You Was A Great Friend And Will Sadly Be Missed. You'll Never Be Forgotten xx”, while Aimee Hunt wrote: RIP Jonny, greatly missed and an amazing guy, thoughts are with the family and all of you guys in the band - Going to miss seeing the drumming when I came to see you. Such a loving person and an amazing drummer. RIP dude. ”

Headley Stud released a statement on Tuesday (Jan 31) to say Mr Kent had died while performing his duties at the stud.

The business manager at Headley Stud, Neil Richmond said: “There is a profound sense of shock and sadness at the stud and of course we will do everything we can to assist the authorities with their inevitable enquiries.

“The heartfelt sympathy of everyone at the stud goes to this young man's family and loved ones.”

A review of the inquest into Mr Kent's death is to take place at Alton Magistrates Court on March 28, pending a report from both Hampshire Constabulary and the Health and Safety Executive into the incident.
