Tributes to Locker left near scene of his death




NEWBURY man Darren Lock will be much missed by all who knew him, according to the numerous tributes left near the scene of his death.

The 38-year-old was found dead at Bramble Court, Queens Road, Newbury, where he was a tenant, on Friday, at about 10pm, and his loss has triggered waves of grief among those who knew him.

The first bouquet of flowers was placed outside the block of flats on Saturday morning, as news of Mr Lock’s death began to filter through to he community.

“Sadly missed, never forgotten and God bless,” the first card read.

It was soon followed by several other messages of condolence from friends of his family, many referring to his nickname Locker.

“RIP Darren, lots of love, Nan Freda”, and “Lockey we will miss you, can’t believe you are gone, hope the angels look after you,” said another message.

Mr Lock was seen as a popular member of the community, with many friendships, stretching from Newbury to London, where he had spent some time in previous years.

Several messages have also been left on social networking website Facebook.

Lorna Townsend, from Hungerford, said: “Darren will be forever missed by everyone that was lucky enough to have the pleasure of meeting him, I will cherish every memory of him, he always managed to make me laugh however low I was feeling. A great man stolen from us.”

Sheila Lock, from Birmingham, said: “Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts at this very sad time RIP Darren.”

About 20 messages of support were left under her note.

Creative Support, the social and supported living charity that runs Bramble Court, did not want to comment.

Messages of support have also been left on Facebook for the 33-year-old man injured a short distance away, named locally as Danny Black.

Mr Black was discharged from hospital yesterday (Wednesday).
