Tricks, treats and ghastly sights at Hallowe'en Hullabaloo

Newbury centre packed with gruesome goings-on for annual Hallowe'en bash

HUNDREDS of ghouls and spooky souls helped turn Newbury Market Place into a spine-chilling whirl of horrible happenings on Sunday during the annual Hallowe'en Hullabaloo.

Families from across Berkshire descended on the town to take part in the event, which began at half past four at Parkway with a parade through Northbrook Street of youngsters, parents and theatrical groups showing off their frightful costumes and make-up.

Music from Bib Fortuna got the crowds rocking, and with fire-eaters, face-painting and colouring and caricatures, and Panto Performances at the Corn Exchange to keep people busy, the throngs clearly enjoyed the macabre spirit of the day.

A colourful fireworks finale rounded off things at 8pm.
