Trinity School headteacher appointed

Teacher who helped turn the Newbury school around is to take up permanent headship position

THE woman who has been at the forefront of a Newbury school's turnaround has been officially announced as the new headteacher.

Charlotte Wilson, who has been working as the school's associate headteacher for two-and-a-half years, has been appointed to the post of substantive Headteacher at Trinity School, after a national search.

She officially begins her new role in January.

Mrs Wilson has worked alongside executive headteacher, Paul Dick, to improve the school in Love Lane after it was placed on the Government's National Challenge list and ordered to improve or risk closure.

And as exam results rose, it was announced in September that the school was ready to stand on its own two feet with Mr Dick stepping back.

He will continue as a consultant for the rest of academic year before returning to Kennet School, Thatcham as full time headteacher.

Chairwoman of the Interim Executive Board (governing body), Sheila Loy, said: "I am sure you would like to join me in congratulating Mrs Wilson on her appointment; the governing body and the school community are very confident that she will take the school to new levels of excellence.

"This is indeed a very exciting time for Trinity School."
