Trio set off on cross-country cycle challenge

Three friends from Woolton Hill want your sponsorship to raise money for a children's charity

THREE Woolton Hill friends are getting set to cycle from the tip of Scotland, to the toe of England to raise charity funds.

Steve Edinborough (CORR), aged 39, and Gareth Perry and Kristian Williams, both aged 33, are cycling 1,000 miles from John O Groats to Lands End, to raise funds for Naomi House Children's Hospice, based in Sutton Scotney.

The trio raised £150 towards a £3,000 target at a Name the Teddy competition at the end of April Woolton Hill market and have collection boxes on the bar at the Rampant Cat pub in Woolton Hill and also the Gentleman's Shop barbers, Hungerford.

They will set off on their cycle challenge on Sunday (May 8) and expect to finish up in Lands End on May 20.

Known as ‘teamsaddlesore2011', they have set up a blog site peppered with entertaining entries, such as the puzzled stares Mr Edinborough received at a golf club stop for refreshment during training - only to visit the gents to discover flies stuck to his suncream covered face “as if pebbledashed.”

The team's blogsite is at http://saddlesore2011.blogspot.com/
