There’s no need to swipe left or right this Valentine’s Day – your true love might just be waiting for you at Dogs Trust Newbury!

Russ is ready to find love, as Dogs Trust is shining a light on big dogs to help them find loving homes this February 14.

Natasha Tarrant, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Newbury, said: “Big dogs like Russ have so much love to give, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to help them find a family to share it with.

“Larger dogs can be overlooked, but once you get to know them, you’ll see just how gentle and affectionate they are.

“If you’re ready to welcome a new best friend into your life, why not visit us and see if your perfect match is waiting?”

On average, dogs in the charity’s care wait around 60 days to find their forever homes, but sadly larger dogs often get overlooked and take longer to rehome.

Russ is a two-year-old Saluki and he’s patiently awaiting his true love this Valentine’s Day.

Measuring almost 90cm head to toe, he’s a long-legged boy full of love, zoomies, and a big personality.

“He’s always up for a game of tug and, although he can be a bit bouncy, he adores cuddles and affection from his human friends,” said the trust.
“With some patience and training (especially if treats are involved), Russ will be the perfect fun-loving addition to your home.

“Russ would love to live with another understanding and playful dog sibling and spend time building a special bond with them.

With over 440 large and 22 giant dogs currently in the trust’s care across the nation, it is on a mission to help these lovable hounds find their forever homes.

They may have big paws, but their hearts are even bigger, and they are ready to show their new families unconditional love.
