Grand Tour star James May visits Woolhampton pub

The Rowbarge in Woolhampton had a brush with stardom last Monday when former Top Gear and Grand Tour TV presenter James May popped in for a pint.

He was spotted as he stopped over at the Woolhampton pub for a private lunch with three friends and agreed to pose for a photo behind the bar.

Deputy manager Emma Butt said: “He kept himself to himself.

“We asked him for a picture at the end, and he said he didn’t mind being in the picture.

“I think he wanted to keep a low profile, as it were.”

According to a post on the pub’s Facebook page, Mr May enjoyed the Rowbarge’s own ‘Rowbarge Ruby’.

Like others across the district, the pub has only just reopened following the relaxation of lockdown restrictions.
