Twenty-one-year-old Eckton-Cooper, of Grange Avenue, off Chapel Street in Thatcham, and Stephens-Thorn, aged 18, of Cresswell Road, Newbury, both admitted assaulting Dylan Townsend by beating him in London Road, Benham Hill, on Friday, February 2.

The pair further admitted jointly causing £80 worth of criminal damage to a phone belonging to Mr Townsend on the same occasion.

Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports.

They stipulated these should be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

Eckton-Cooper and Stephens-Thorn were both meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
