Two dogs recued by firefighters from Newbury house fire

According to Phil Knight, manager of White Watch at Newbury fire station, two fire engines and ten firefighters were called at 5pm to a house fire in Northern Avenue.
Mr Knight said: “People using hobs as table tops is always a risk.”
The kitchen was extensively damaged in the fire.
The house was unoccupied by people at the time of the fire, but two dogs were rescued by firefighters.
One dog was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to a local vets, but was said to have since recovered.
The other dog was left with neighbours.
The incident was closed after about three hours.
