Two men charged with conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with incidents across Berkshire and Oxfordshire




Two men have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary among other offences tied to incidents in Berkshire and Oxfordshire over the past six months.

John Smith, 35, and Jonathan Marney, 33, were charged in connection with a number of incidents that occurred between September 1, 2021 and February 12, 2022 in Newbury, Reading, Wokingham, Abingdon and Basingstoke.

Mr Smith, of Bruce Road, Woodley, has been charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal, conspiracy to steal from another and theft from a motor vehicle.

Mr Marney, of no fixed abode, has been charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal, conspiracy to steal from another, driving whilst disqualified, theft from a motor vehicle and conceal/disguise/convert/transfer/remove criminal property.

Both men have been remanded in custody with Mr Smith set to appear at Reading Crown Court on February 22, and Mr Marney set to appear on March 14.
