Two Newbury boys complete 24-hour stay awake challenge to raise money for Newbury Cancer Care

Two Newbury lads have raised nearly £600 for charity after taking part in a 24-hour stay awake challenge.

Ethan and Elliott Heaver, of Regnum Drive, took on the challenge to support Newbury Cancer Care and the boys easily smashed their initial £175 target with £575 being raised so far.

Ethan, 11, and Elliott, nine, completed the 24-hours with help from their parents from 3am on Monday to 3am on Tuesday last week.

Ethan and Elliott’s mother Lynette said: “It really took me by surprise when they came up with the idea.

“I’m super proud of them for what they did for charity and they really deserve some recognition for their achievement.”

The boys came up with their fundraising idea last Christmas and decided to complete it during the February half-term break.

Their mum said that it was certainly a challenge, with the last three hours being really tough, but the family managed to get through it by playing plenty of games and watching Deadly 60 on television.
