Two West Berkshire shops targeted by burglars

One man has been arrested following an attempted break-in in Thatcham this morning (Mon).
At about 2am, a member of the public telephoned the police after hearing noises coming from the Co-Operative store in Bradley-Moore Square.
Three men were seen running from the scene and police managed to detain and arrest one of them.
The key box which opens the shutters was damaged during the incident.
A 22-year-old man from Slough has been arrested in connection with this incident.
Cigarettes, alcohol and money was stolen from Greenham Court Stores, The Nightingales, on Tuesday, July 24.
Offenders gained entry to shop, sometime between 1.30am and 5.10am, by using a large piece of brickwork or cement to smash the lower glass panel of the front door.
Once inside the property, the offenders stole approximately £300 of alcohol and cigarettes as well as £184 in cash.
Investigating officer, Pc Ian Bibbins, from the neighbourhood policing team at Newbury police station, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously or any suspicious activity in the area around this time.”
Anyone with information about either incident should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
