UK airspace restricted due to computer failure
Eurocontrol said: “There has been a technical failure at London ACC. Engineers are working on the problem and more information will be given when available.”
Traffic that is already airborne will still be accepted but departing flights through the airspace are expected to be delayed.
Air Traffic Control service for the UK NATS confirmed that this is due to a technical problem reported at Swanwick air traffic control centre.
NATS said: “UK airspace has not been closed, but airspace capacity has been restricted in order to manage the situation. We apologise for any delays and our incident response team has been mobilised.
“Every possible action is being taken to assist in resolving the situation and to confirm the details.
“Further information will be released as it becomes available.”
UPDATE the fault has now been fixed according to NATS and flights are expected to be resumed as soon as possible
