UN flag raising ceremony on today (Weds)

The ceremony will feature music and a fanfare by Kennet School Brass Ensemble and VIPs in attendance will include the chairman of West Berkshire Council, the mayor of Newbury, the deputy mayors of Hungerford and Thatcham, and the branch president of the Newbury and District UN Association.
Newbury MP, Richard Benyon, will also be present to read a statement.
The ceremony will be followed by a discussion session in the council offices and the showing of a DVD reviewing the work of the UN in 2011 led by the Newbury branch of the United Nations Association.
The event takes place outside the Market Street offices of West Berkshire Council from 12pm.
Members of the public are welcome to go along to both the ceremony and discussion to find out more about the work of the United Nations.
