Unemployment falls again in West Berkshire




Figures released today (Wednesday) show that 1,687 people claimed unemployment benefit in West Berkshire last month

THE number of people claiming unemployment benefit in West Berkshire has fallen for a fourth successive month.

Figures released today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics show that 1,687 people (1.7 per cent of the working population) claimed unemployment benefit during December - 43 fewer than in November.

Of these, 1,150 (2.3 per cent of the working population) were men and 537 (1.1 per cent of the working population) were women.

The figures show the fourth successive monthly decrease in the district's claimant count.
