Unemployment falls in West Berkshire




Figures released today (Wednesday) show that 1,836 people in West Berkshire claimed unemployment benefit last month

THE number of people claiming unemployment benefit in West Berkshire fell last month.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (Wednesday) reveal that in March, 1,836 people claimed unemployment benefit in West Berkshire (1.9 per cent of the working population) - 38 fewer people than in February.

Of the claimants, 1,202 were men (2.4 per cent of the working population), while 634 were women (1.3 per cent of the working population).

The statistics also revealed that 361 fewer people claimed unemployment benefit in West Berkshire last month, compared to the same month in 2010.
