Unemployment falls in West Berkshire




Figures show that 1,810 people in West Berkshire claimed unemployment benefit last month

THE number of people claiming unemployment benefit in West Berkshire decreased last month.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (Wednesday) revealed that 1,810 people (1.8 per cent of the district's working population) claimed unemployment benefit in September – 28 fewer than in August.

Of these, 1,147 were men (2.3 per cent of the working population) and 663 were women (1.4 per cent of the working population).

The figures show the first decrease in the district's claimant count in three months, following increases in both July and August.
