Unemployment figures fall again




Figures show that 1,795 people in West Berkshire claimed unemployment benefit during May

THE number of people claiming unemployment benefit in West Berkshire fell again last month.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics today (Wednesday) reveal that 1,795 people in West Berkshire (1.8 per cent of the working population) claimed unemployment benefit during May.

Of these, 1,162 were men (2.3 per cent of the working population) and 633 were women (1.3 per cent of the working population).

The latest figures show that 24 fewer people in West Berkshire claimed unemployment benefit compared to April this year, while the figures show that 202 fewer people claimed unemployment benefit last month in comparison with the same month last year.
