Unemployment still low in West Berkshire
THE number of people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance in West Berkshire has fallen slightly.
Figures released today (Wednesday) show that 403 people in the district (0.4 per cent of the population) were registered for JSA in December.
Fifty of the 403 were aged between 18 and 24.
Of the 403, 239 were male and 164 were female.
December's figures represent a slight drop from those in November when 422 people in West Berkshire were registered for JSA.
The latest figures represent a 37.1 per cent drop when compared to the 641 people (0.7 per cent of the population) claiming in December 2014.
West Berkshire has the lowest number of people registered as claiming JSA compared with other local authorities in Berkshire
Bracknell Forest had 520 (0.7 per cent) registered in December; Reading 1,300 (1.2); Slough 1,146 (1.2); Windsor and Maidenhead 580 (0.6); and Wokingham 443 (0.4)
