Festival of the Moon coming to Newbury this summer, says Newbury Business Improvement District and Corn Exchange Theatre

An immersive moon experience is the highlight of a series of more than 100 spectacular summer events in Newbury.

Visit Newbury, the organisation behind the Newbury Business Improvement District (BID), is hostinig a three week Festival of the Moon, running from August 15 to September 2.

And the centrepiece of the festivities will be the globally renowned Museum of the Moon, created by artist Luke Jerram and brought to Newbury by Newbury BID and the Corn Exchange.

The seven-metre installation features a lifelike display of the Moon’s surface captured through NASA images and is complemented by a soundscape from BAFTA-winning composer Dan Jones.

Aside from this immersive exhibit, the event also includes moon-themed wellness sessions, an outdoor cinema, free arts and crafts workshops, paddle boarding, live music, yoga and films for families and local business owners.

“We’re passionate about making Newbury a vibrant cultural hub and inviting people from every corner of the country, and even from abroad, to join us in celebrating the beauty and mystery of the Moon,” says Newbury BID operations manager, Alison Drummond.

“Our lively community and commitment to arts and culture shine through in these events, and we can’t wait to share them with you as part of the Festival of the Moon this summer.”

Entry to the Museum of the Moon is complimentary, with time slots available from Tuesday, August 15 until Sunday, September 3, including evening sessions for a night-time lunar experience.
