Unlicensed driver caught in police trap

In the dock on Thursday, December 18, was 44-year-old Darren Mosher of Hillcrest.
Jane Davies, prosecuting, said: “Officers parked in a marked vehicle looking for the defendant’s car because of information that it was being driven on a daily basis. Sure enough, it drove past them at Hermitage on the Hampstead Norreys Road.”
Mr Mosher admitted driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance, both on November 27 this year.
He also has previous convictions including drink driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence, the court heard.
Representing himself, Mr Mosher told magistrates: “I’m on a zero hours contract with an agency and can’t always afford to keep taking driving lessons.”
He said a friend who usually gave him a lift was off sick and he had taken a chance rather than lose shifts and have future work cancelled.
Mr Mosher was fined £300 and ordered to pay a statutory surcharge of £30.
