UPDATE: Enborne Road re-opens in Newbury following collision
Car driver and passenger taken to hospital following collision
A STRETCH of the Enborne Road, Newbury, has been blocked off to motorists as police and fire crews attend a road traffic collision this afternoon (Monday).
Thames Valley Police officers on the scene said at about 3.15pm today that a 200m stretch of the road had been blocked off since about 2.30pm following a collision involving a tractor.
The road currently remains closed to traffic on the Enborne Road.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nicole Targett, said a crew from Newbury Fire Station was at the scene trying to free a person trapped inside the tractor.
Update 4.30pm
Thames Valley Police have confirmed a section of Enborne Road remains closed, whilst a vehicle involved in a collision this afternoon is recovered.
According to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue, one fire engine from Newbury and another from Hungerford - a total of ten firefighters - were called to the incident at 2.42pm, following a collision between a small car and a tractor, after the car went into a field.
Two people were cut out of the car and the incident was closed by the fire service at 3.46pm.
According to Thames Valley Police, a man and a woman are thought to have received minor injuries in the incident, after being cut out of a silver Renault Megane.
Update 4.50pm
Contrary to information received in earlier reports, crew manager of Blue Watch, at Newbury fire station, Richard Young, who was at the scene said the Renault Scenic remained on the road following the collision.
Firefighters took 45 minutes to cut out the female driver, with a possible back injury and male passenger, complaining of chest pains.
Both were taken to hospital.
South Central Ambulance also attended the incident.

The Enborne Road was re-opened just after 5pm today (Mon) Thames Valley Police have confirmed.
