Update: Power cut in Market Place and rail disruption this morning (Fri)

First Great Western spokesman, John Ratchford, said: "One of our trains reporting running over a bicycle on the tracks near Newbury at approximately 8.20am this morning.
"While there was no damage to the train itself, the collision between train and bicycle damaged a signal cable and led to delays and cancellations for services between Reading and Newbury.
"Normal service resumed at 1016."

ABOUT 100 properties are currently without power in Newbury’s Market Place and town centre for the second time in as many months.
Power was lost to about 400 properties at 3.30am but 300 of these have since had power resorted.
Spokeswoman, Sam O’Connor, said at 10.53 that the engineers had identified a fault in the underground cable and that they were bringing in an emergency generator to restore power to the last 100 properties while the repairs took place.
She said that they expected the problem to be resolved by lunchtime.
Back in February businesses in the Market Place were angered after planned engineering works led to an unexpected power cuts.
Many restaurants had to shut early and the Market Place was deserted at key trading hours because of the cuts.
There are also problems on the trains as well.
A bicycle has been thrown over the bridge at Newbury train station causing signalling problems between Kintbury and Newbury.
Train services through these stations are currently subject to disruption on all routes at short notice.
Customers are being advised that London bound services from the West Country cannot currently call at Newbury station.
First Great Western said the problems will be resolved as soon as possible.
