Upgrade for village Post Office

But it means that the premises in Church Street will have to close while modernising work is carried out.
The branch needs to close temporarily for refurbishment from 5:30pm on Monday, February 9.
It will reopen on Wednesday, February 18 at 1pm.
In the meantime, the nearest alternative branches are in Ramsbury and Burbage.
Under the new service, customers will still be able to access a range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals and more.
Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account and sending funds abroad using Moneygram.
Customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
The service will be provided at a combination counter, where the Post Office terminal will sit beside the retail till and will be available seven days a week during the store’s opening hours.
This represents an extra nine hours per week more than is currently offered, including Sunday morning, and the branch will open earlier every day.
Specifically, the opening times will be from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm; on Saturdays from 8am to 12.30pm and on Sundays from 8am until 11am.
Post Office Area Manager, Alan Ridout, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Great Bedwyn and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade.”
The upgrade is funded by a £2 billion Government investment in the postal service.
Last year Lambourn Post Office received an upgrade an modernisation to become a designated main branch post Office with extended hours.
