Uplifting new oratorio

On Saturday, Saint Mary's Church, Andover, plays host to a brand new composition written by Hampshire based composer Henrietta Wentworth- Stanley. Spirit is a contemporary oratorio, solely inspired by "the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in the bible," said Henrietta, who hopes to bring the community together through her music, and composition. She said that "The oratorio draws on passages from the Bible that tell of the presence and action of the Spirit in people’s lives. Thus, the piece has been designed to bring people together in musical celebration of the Holy Spirit’s power to uplift and inspire." On the night, both the Spirit Voices, and the Spirit Sinfonia will come together to perform the piece. Soloists are local soprano Hannah Medlam, Eirlys Myfanwy Davies, David Burrows, and Andrew Thompson. The performance starts at 7.30pm, and tickets can be purchased on the night, at a cost of £15 (£10 conc)
