Uprooted tree causes Kintbury power cut

Around 1,200 homes were left without power after a 100ft tree uprooted and fell onto the overhead cables.
Station Road is currently closed in both directions between the A4 and Newbury Street junctions.
A spokeswoman for SSE, Morven Smith, said: "We were alerted at 12.50pm to reports that a 100ft tree had been uprooted in the winds and brought the overhead lines down."
She added that 130 properties were currently without power but engineers were working to restore it.
"We have to remove the tree and put up a new pole and replace the cables," she said.
"It's a very difficult situation as the engineers are working in difficult ground conditions but our top priority is to get the power back on.
"It will be the early hours of the morning before the power is restored."
Mrs Smith said that the road closures were likely to remain in place overnight while the engineers carried out the work.
