Utility company apologises for weekend-long power cut in Thatcham
A utility company has apologised for a weekend-long power cut in Thatcham.
Multi-utility network infrastructure company GTC has apologised for any inconvenience caused to a number of Thatcham residents on October 7.
At around 1.39pm a power cut affected a significant part of the town according to SSEN.
For some parts of Thatcham, the power cut continued throughout the weekend.
GTC, which is a part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, was working on the issue and liaising with residents who could not heat their homes.
A BUUK spokesman said: “We’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused during the electricity outages in Thatcham on Friday and over the weekend resulting from a fault on a high voltage network.
“We’d like to thank everyone affected for their continued support and understanding during this time, especially since the temporary generators used to minimise the disruption didn’t work as planned.”
Some residents have attempted to contact GTC to receive compensation and have expressed, via online message boards, that they have struggled communicating with the out of hours team.
However the spokesperson said: “Work to enable the permanent repair commenced today and our customer services team [tel: 01359 302255] will be contacting those affected regarding compensation due.”
