Thames Valley Police appeal after seven Thatcham cars are damaged in one weekend




Vandals have gone on the rampage in Thatcham - smashing the windows of a number of cars and damaging vehicles’ doors and paintwork.

The spate of criminal damage, which took place in the town over one weekend, has prompted an appeal from Thames Valley Police.

The incidents are understood to have all taken place between 5pm on Friday, September 12 and Sunday, September 14.

According to force reports seven cars parked in Hurford Drive, John Hunt Close, Park Avenue, The Haywards, Browning Close and Chapel Street were all attacked and damaged.

In Hurford Drive vandals smashed the passenger and driver side window of a silver Vauxhall Corsa beween 5pm Friday night and 1am Saturday morning, while also leaving two large dents in the windscreen.

In John Hunt Close offenders smashed the rear passenger and front windscreen of a grey Avensis Active that same night, while in Park Avenue the windscreen and rear window of a red Ford Zetec were broken, along with damage to a door sometime between 7.30pm Friday, September 12 and 8am the next morning.

In The Haywards, police say criminals smashed the windscreen of a car with pellets between Friday night and 11.30am Saturday morning (September 13) - while a Vauxhall Corsa in Browning Close had its rear window smashed and front windscreen also damaged sometime during Saturday.

The windscreen and rear window on an Audi A3 was also smashed in Chapel Street overnight between Friday and Saturday.

Officers are also appealing for information about a further case of criminal damage - in Porchester Road, Newbury - also between Saturday night and Sunday (September 14) when the rear window of a BMW was broken.

Anyone with information relating to any of the incidents is asked to call the Police Inquiry Centre on 101.
