Very limited service between Newbury and Reading due to rail strikes
Great Western Railway has warned travellers to expect significant disruption to its rail services today (Thursday) because of industrial action by drivers’ union Aslef.
There will be a very limited service between Newbury and Reading at peak times and there will be no other trains travelling between the two throughout the day.
GWR will also be operating a very limited service between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads and Reading and Basingstoke, among several other routes on its network.
A GWR spokesperson said: “If you intend to travel on these routes, please check before you travel.
“Trains that are operating will be busier than usual because GWR is not able to offer the normal service frequency.”
To help customers, GWR has stated that tickets from Saturday, December 2, to Friday, December 8, can be used the day before or up to and including Tuesday, December 12.
GWR customers who purchased tickets but do not travel can claim a full refund or amend their ticket.
Those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
Season-ticket holders can also apply for compensation through the delay repay scheme.
