Victoria Park works scheduled to go ahead despite failed lottery bid

Newbury Town Council’s Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund bid was rejected in December last year

IMPROVEMENTS planned for Victoria Park in Newbury are still on the cards, despite a failed bid for lottery funding from Newbury Town Council.

It was announced at Monday night's town council community services meeting that Greenham Common Trust will stump up cash for a project to improve the park toilets, and install a cafe and changing rooms.

The announcement came from town councillor David Allen (Victoria, Lib Dem).

Other issues discussed at Monday's meeting included changes to allotment rules, the town's market regulations, and the town hall's cleaning contract.
