VIDEO and pictures: Heatwave hits West Berkshire

High temperatures led to not a lot of action around Newbury as the public generally heeded safety warnings and stayed indoors.

On Monday and Tuesday, as temperatures hit 36°C, Victoria Park in Newbury was nearly deserted and the town centre was similarly quiet.

At Bucklebury Ford one passerby was cooling off in the waters and children paddled in the River Pang, while at Bucklebury Farm, staff were working hard at keeping the animals cool.
